The beautiful 18th century Château du Baffy, on the edge of the small village of Colombiers, offers guests the chance to stay in the beautiful Normandy countryside and enjoy the superb beaches nearby.
The château is a popular destination for UK school groups during the academic year (primarily March to November), keen to explore the region with a wide range of daily excursions. During the summer holidays (late July/August), the Château is enjoyed by adult and family guests.

About the Job:
Working alongside our fantastic French chef, Thierry, 14 years in the role, we are looking for an assistant chef, who has a passion for food and people. Along with Thierry, you will be responsible for preparing a high-quality, hearty and varied menu for our school groups and guests. We can offer an opportunity to learn, live in the French countryside and work alongside a strong team, to ensure our guests get the most from their stay at the Chateau du Baffy.
We aim to provide a varied and flexible working environment to ensure that you are able to enjoy and explore all that the location and the region has to offer, including regular team day trips and social events plus local fitness centre/ swimming facilities.
The neighboring farmhouse/ gîte provides the main staff accommodation, equipped with new farmhouse kitchen, lounge and dining area complete with log-burner and WIFI – offering the team the chance to relax and socialize together. Full board shared accommodation, all meals and a competitive monthly salary will be provided as well as an end of season performance-related bonus.
As such, we are looking for energetic, motivated and ambitious candidates who can demonstrate:
Good level of kitchen / catering experience (additional training will be provided)
A passion for food and cooking
Strong understanding of food hygiene practice
Hand's on approach
A willingness to learn
Ability to drive overseas
An understanding of food costing / budgeting
